I mixed mine with cold ginger ale. I drank it very quickly with a straw, then followed up with two containers of very cold water. The first dose started working within an hour. I did experience slight dizziness which passed quickly and extreme chills. I had only soft diet for three days prior so I was pretty much clear before second dose. Stay very close to bathroom, no cramping. I did feel it was...

Mild bowel movement only despite following doctor's instructions. "Only share your first hand experience..." I think you mean to say "Share only your first hand experience."

I followed the Suprep kits instructions except I used 10 oz. Of lemonade to mix with the prep liquid. I also used a big straw and put it as far as possible without choking on it. The lemonade made it possible to get it all drank without throwing it up. I also cut up a fresh lemon and cut it into 4 pieces. I would bite into a piece after each drink and it took away any bad taste in my mouth from the prep drink. It took me about 35 minutes to drink all 16 oz's. It began working in about an hour. No stomach pain or cramping. No nausea either, or headache. I have to take the second dose in the morning but I don't expect any problems. Hope this helps you. Read More Read Less

I had a sudden change in my bowel habits and needed to have a colonoscopy. Unfortunately, I also have many allergies and am sensitive to the PEG type of protocol, so this product was ordered for me. I am not going to soft sell this product, it is VERY difficult to swallow and I had to fight with myself to keep it down. The other people on this site sharing their experiences helped me through this. YES, put it over ice! Use a straw to swallow it. I divided the mixed solution for both prep bottles of solution in half each time so I could convince myself I could do it. You need to wait those 20 min. between each 8 oz. helping of the total 16 oz. solution dose for prep 1 (and then the next day's attempt for prep 2. ) Then, I had ginger ale ready for the follow up chaser of glass one 16 oz. liquid and a lemon flavored drink mix for glass two of the next 16 oz drink . I drank them as soon as I could and certainly well before that 1 hour mark. The ice does help but because it is cold, you may have some cramping a bit, but not to bad though. You also want to have other fluid based substances ready too, since it helps to stay hydrated. I had popsicles and flavored ice cups like Italian Ices. This prep, it is the most disgusting tasting substance I have ever tried . It also worked and I had my colonoscopy as I needed, PDQ. I hope I never really need it again. If I do, I know now what to do to get through.Read More Read Less

Worst colonoscopy prep ever. Do not allow your doctor to give you this torture-drug! I took the pills, so taste was not an issue. However, it made me very cold, and the second dose made me quite nauseous. The second does requires you to get up around 1:00 a.m., and from that point on I had no control of my bowels whatsoever. I had several accidents, got no sleep at all, at one point my husband had to come in with rubber gloves and bleach and clean up our bathroom. From then until about 3:00 a.m. I just sat on the toilet shivering and unable to get up do to the lack of control. My husband also got almost no sleep due to helping me. I started off wearing Depends, but ran out and then soiled and will be throwing away four pairs of underpants. I have had two colonoscopies prior to this with a different prep (I believe it was Moviprep), and while the prep wasn't my favorite thing to do, I always described it as "not bad." NEVER has the prep caused me to lose all control, feel nauseous, and be up all night. Suprep is a cruel form of torture--by morning I was furious. The makers of this drug need to get it together and figure this out--this medication will drive people away from getting the screenings they need. When it's your time for a colonoscopy, demand a different prep! It doesn't have to be this way.Read More Read Less

Worst colonoscopy prep I’ve ever had. I took the tablets, so taste wasn’t an issue, and the first round of pills wasn’t too bad. You do need to be aware that when this stuff hits, you will have trouble making it to the toilet in time. It also made me very cold. The real trouble began with the second dose, which happened at 1:00 am: I got quite nauseous, I lost all control of my bowel, had multiple accidents, was up all night, my husband was up all night helping me, and at one point he had to come in the bathroom with rubber gloves and bleach to clean up. After that I sat on the toilet for over an hour until 3:00 am, when I had to go lay down. I soiled multiple pairs of underpants and will be throwing them away. No colonoscopy prep has ever caused me to stay up all night, lose all control, or have nausea. By morning I was furious. This stuff is a living hell, and it will drive people away from getting the screenings they need! The makers of the drug need to figure this stuff out and get it together, My advice: have a lot of Depends at the ready (I had some, but ran out), and demand a different prep. This one is cruel and unusual punishment.Read More Read Less

Disgusting taste! I forced myself to drink it. First dose took a few hours to work. Had a terrible headache. Second dose 10 hours later. Couldn't drink it without vomiting. Almost passed out. Had the chills. I will never, ever drink that *(#& again!

I am writing this review for people out there like me who have medical anxiety. Suprep is not that bad at all! I just had my first colonoscopy for screening at age 46. I was so scared the night before that I called my doctor panicking and almost cancelled the procedure. I powered through when she told me there is a significantly higher risk of colon cancer than having anything go wrong during the prep or procedure. Here's my advice. Start the low-fiber, bland diet three days beforehand. It really does help. Drink the Suprep cold. I had my first dose at room temperature and I renamed it Hot Cherry Garbage Juice. The second dose I put in the fridge overnight and it was so much easier to get down. If you are sensitive to taste, have something ready to chase it down. I was doing ginger ale shots after every swallow of Suprep and it really made it much easier. Once I was finished, it took about 15 minutes to start working. It lasted 2 hours and I had maybe 6-7 trips to the bathroom. No pain, no cramping, no near misses, nothing other than just realizing you need to go. I read about all these people who set up movies in the bathroom and were in there for hours. I had nothing like that. Just in and out over a few hours and then it was done. The next morning was easier because I was already pretty much cleaned out, so maybe 5 trips to the bathroom. I was nervous for the procedure, but that was over in no time. My doctor removed a polyp and found diverticulosis, so I'm really glad I had it done. I have to go back in 5 years for another colonoscopy and I have no worries at all about doing it again. The worst part is the taste. Somebody's got to find a better flavor for this stuff! Bottom line - it's not as bad as you think it's going to be. You can do it! Read More Read Less

After reading so many reviews regarding this prep, I made two calls practically begging my doctor to order something else. She did not. I had such anxiety about it. I prayed a lot and had a lot of friends and family praying for me to be able to take it. After my first sip, all my anxiety was gone. The taste was ok. A little salty but also a little sweet. I didn’t realize it had grape flavor in it (which when I mentioned it to my doctor, she assured me that it didn’t! But I’m here to tell you that I could taste grape flavor!) I didn’t get nauseous or throw up. It smelled like grape and everything worked like it was supposed to. Read More Read Less

Since I read very mixed reviews of this ranging from “light to be illegal” to “tasted like a magrarita” I thought I’d add one more “it was fine for me.” It’s never going to be 100 percent pleasant having the runs for a couple of hours, but I was fine. I’m a tiny woman. Popped a Zofran prophylacticaly two hours before each dose. Drank it exactly as instructed, mixed with cool water and sipped from a straw. Not a taste I’d choose (exactly like the description, it was syrupy and salty). But I got it down both times within about 20-25 minutes. Followed with the two glasses of water over the next hour or so. And sat on the can they entire time watching a movie on my phone. It made me feel bloated and full for the first 45 minutes or so but once it started coming out, that decreased also. There was no cramping or sweating like you have with “regular” diarrhea; my doctor prescribed children’s anti-gas to supplement the water so that might have helped. My procedure was fine, I came home and slept like a log, and now I feel like Rip Van Winkle and I’m ready for some dinner. May everyone have it as easy as I did. Good luck! Read More Read Less

Hope this helps someone. While the experience is not pleasant, I found it quite tolerable. After seeing accounts of the horrid taste, I was pleasantly surprised. Not something I will order in a restaurant but the cherry taste was very palatable and I downed the 1st dose with a straw at once. It took 70 minutes to start to work. I never once felt a urgent need to go but was proactive when I sensed it starting to build. Most of first dose gone in about 3 hours with a few residual squirts through the evening and early morning. Second dose worked a little quicker and system was clear in about 2 hours. Colonoscopy revealed all good - not even a polyp, and this was after a positive Cologuard test (but that's another story. Don't be spooked by a positive Cologuard test, only 4 % of their positives are actually cancer. The doc who did my colonoscopy remarked that Cologuard "is not there yet.")Read More Read Less

This is the worst tasting drink I have ever had before a colonoscopy. I will never drink this again. I would rather do the Miralax and ducalax pills then this. I always start mine earlier and was done by 10:00 to go to bed. I cannot even think about drinking this at 2:00am. then running to the bathroom for the next 3 hours. This stuff also stays with you the next day. All I can say is SURPREP NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Suprep was the absolute worse colonoscopy prep I have ever used! It made me extremely nauseous, extremely dizzy, violent bowel movements that were uncontrollable. I told my gastroenterologist about this and he responded, yes, a lot of patents can’t tolerate it. I was like, seriously, why don’t you find an alternative then! Wow!!

I followed the instructions carefully and it seemed the solution was working, but when my bowel movements were finished, approximately 5 hours before my colonoscopy, my stool was still brown. I called my gastroenterologist's office and was told to rush to the pharmacy, purchase Ducolax tablets, take 4 tablets with a big glass of water. I did. Then I read the Ducolax instructions and it said the tablets would work in 6 to 12 hours. They did nothing to help cleanse my bowel prior to my procedure. I was given a complete enema, and after the colonoscopy, I was told my bowel was not cleaned and I required another colonoscopy in several years. Very disappointed. By the way, the Ducolax caused several bowel movements hours after my procedure. Read More Read Less

This brand is the best of 3 because I was on the toilet less. First colonoscopy, I was prescribed GoLytely, where you drink a gallon of medicine throughout the day (worst!). Next was Prepopik (discontinued but in generic now) and last was Suprep. The gallon was an awful experience! Apparently, it's prescribed a lot because all health insurances pay for it so it's easier for administration, plus, they just tell you to drink it all vs. drink the medicine, then follow with drinking water or Gatorade (because they don't trust people to drink on their own). Ask for low-volume fluid like Suprep! None of them taste good, so get over that! I added cold water (as instructed) and sucked on a lemon before drinking. Without a straw, the syrup got all over my mouth so I tasted it more so I used a straw next. I held my breath while drinking; it seemed much easier to drink half the cup, then another half so the mouth only has to deal with it twice. Then, you just drink water, gatorade, etc. vs. drinking more medicine (like GoLytely). So much easier than drinking a whole gallon of medicine! I am 5'3"/135 lbs. and it took 25 minutes to kick-in. Then, I was on the toilet for maybe 15 minutes. I dabbed with toilet paper, then used a baby butt wipe (do NOT throw down toilet or use a wet wipe that is not for the butt) and that took the acidity off my butt (water/TP is not good enough to get rid of acidity). I was on the toilet a total of 4 times, which was WAY better than the other medicines, which had me on the toilet so much that my butthole got sore. The next morning, I was on the toilet maybe 2-3x. You might want to get A&D ointment to put on your butt so when the poop comes out, it doesn't hit your skin but I didn't do that. Prepopik and GoLytely had me on the toilet way too much and they made my poops more acidic and explosive and I needed the A &D on the butt. I also had an afternoon appointment so that I didn't have to wake up early to drink the second dose (which needs to be drunk 5-6 hours before your colonoscopy). When on clear liquids, Jello and chicken broth helped me through. My colonoscopies caught pre-cancerous polyps in me. Best wishes, with Suprep, it's not as bad as it could be. Read More Read Less

Jet propulsion!!! It tastes pretty awful and I felt like I might vomit while drinking it. Wish I would have known I could mix it with Venors as that might have helped. Sleep with a towel under you. It works fast and for about an hour straight you will be on the porcelain pony. Then it will randomly hit you when you think you're done for a couple of hours afterwards. Wet whipes dabbed in lieu of toilet paper. Slight abdominal discomfort. Chills even though I'm always hot.

This was my prep for my 4th every 5 year colonoscopy, I’m 62 with a strong family history. It was the worst taste ever! I felt like throwing it up, but it really worked well. I hated it, but when I read that it gives the Doctor better visual for detecting melanoma! Good reason to suffer! I used the Sonic brand of a lemon slushy to get past the taste! The best!! My advice to others, it is worth it! Even with the yuk!
