Some may say this is not long enough to tell anything...I have been on Necon for 5 days and have gained 5.5 pounds. Since noticing the weight gain I have been trying to eat healthier and exercise more but the weight just keeps adding up, I am calling my doctor today to hopefully switch to something else. I am not willing to wait an entire month and 20 pounds later to stop

I had taken a different birth control for almost 11 years until my body started rejecting it (apparently that is possible!). Main reason for using birth control: I have really heavy periods. I switched to Necon. Not only have I lost a lot of weight (I can't seem to gain any), but I've had crazy mood swings, and itchy swollen eyes every morning... Time to try out something else!

While this pill is easy to use, It has not been effective for me. I am still bleeding since starting the pack and I am in the middle of the last week of pills. I have gained over 5 lbs in the first month of using it. I have been experiencing nausea, severe headaches, especially around my eye are, and and moderate to severe dizziness around 2 hours after taking the pill. I have been on other BC pills that did not do this to me. I wouldn't recommend this pill.

My acne cleared up on Necon and I did not experience huge emotional episodes like on previous birth control pills. I really like Necon.

I've been on birth control for years and have tried nearly every brand under the sun. I've been on this one for months and am decently satisfied. I haven't been spotting at all, which is a problem I've noticed with other brands. My only issue (which my Doc warned me of) is dizziness and headaches. The dizziness seemed to subside after the first month of using the product. It was very manageable and I only had a couple very mild dizzy spells. The headaches have not subsided however. If you're naturally prone to getting headaches, I would not recommend this drug. My headaches have been quite mild and a few ibuprofen seem to do the trick. Overall, I would give this pill a shot. My insurance fully covered this one and the side effects have been much less severe than others that I've tried (i.e. ortho, yaz, seasonique, etc)Read More Read Less

I have taken Necon 1/35 on and off for the past 5-6 years to help control heavy menses flow and spotting. I would take it 3-4 months then get off of it once my periods regulated to reduce the risk of weight gain and blood clots. My period would be normal the next 6-8 months then go back to being heavy. I still continue to cycle it like this and have experienced no side effects at all. No history of depression or headaches so it did not affect me that way. I love it and it works very well for me.Read More Read Less

I have tried a few different birth control pills and most of them gave me headaches and mood swings so I was nervous to try a new one. My doctor gave me Necon 1/35 and I absolutely love it. I have been on it for exactly 1 year. The only side effect I have ever noticed is slight food aversions the first few pills I take in the month... which to me is NO big deal at all. I have not gained weight, noticed any difference in my mood and honestly don't even notice im taking anything...other than when my alarm goes off to take it, and not getting pregnant ;) Everyone works differently with birth control, but I did not like Loestrin one bit, an I love this one. Hope this helps! Read More Read Less

I normally use the depo-provera shot, but having moved overseas where it was illegal, I had to choose another option. The pill made my periods incredibly light. They last a half day or a day. However it is the most severe my PMS has ever been: mood swings, headaches. The PMS comes about 7-10 days before my period and lasts (in varying intensity) until the end of my period. I just take some Midol and call it good. Otherwise nothing weird about this medication. I'm not pregnant! I have missed pills, but the pills continue to work for about two days of missed pills before you need to worry--which is great. And I do love having a one day period!Read More Read Less

i have been taking the drug for 3 weeks now, only difference is an increase in headaches. honestly everyone’s hormones are different. Every pill has different levels of mixed hormones. Find the ones that work for you. trial and error. this works for me - my acne and my bleeding - this might not work for you, you may already have a naturally higher estrogen level than me. It’s a give and take. what side effects out weigh each other for you. i have not noticed decrees in sex drive or weight gain. But i am bloated a little more than i use to be. Good hunting ladies.Read More Read Less

This pill worked great for pregnancy. My skin cleared up A LOT. Helped a lot with my cramps, and ovarian cysts. I had to stop taking it because my blood pressure went up after almost a year being on it. I did experience headaches, moodiness, no sex drive, bigger breast, breast tenderness.

I started taking Necon 1/35, i had a 3 month supply and would refill if i was satisfied. Which i was not satisfied at all. The first month I gained over 6 pounds which is not normal for me at all im 20 years old and in shape weighing 105 then randomly gained that weight. I then kept taking it and my period was shorter and lighter but my breast were ALWAYS sore and tender. I then stopped taking it in the middle of my 3rd month because I was not liking the way to made me have such bad mood swings and no sex drive. I did not have a period for the following two months. I was freaking out. Took 4 preg test and all negative. Finally after two months coming off the pill i finally started my period and im about to start a new birth control. i do not recommend this to ANYONE. its awful!!!!!Read More Read Less

My reproductive endocrinologist prescribed these as part of a treatment for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (aka PCOS) to shrink the cysts that continue to stick in my ovaries. They have done a good job with that, but I have just called to have me taken off these. I have been on them for close to a year and *cannot* tolerate the mood swings. I am normally a very positive, upbeat, energetic, patient and outgoing person. As time progresses, these demonic pills continue to rob me of all that. I *refuse* to let this be my new normal.Read More Read Less

After years of excruciating cramps, i was diagnosed with endometriosis in 1988. i was put on Danocrine (male hormone) fo 2 years which put me in a chemical menopause, and my thermostat has not been the same ever since. I was then switched to Ortho-Novum 1/35 for several years, never stopping the active pills and thus suppressing my periods. When the generic Necon 1/35 became available, i was switched to that and have taken it continuously for a good 20 years. i never had ANY adverse side effects. i stopped taking it last February at age 53 to see if i was menopausal yet. Only had one ill-timed light period which decided to show up on the first vacation i ever took with my BF. Nothing else happening since then. Disclaimer: I've always been a big girl with DDD boobs and a family history of depression. Depression has been well-controlled with psych meds. Have had Type 2 diabetes for 11 years making it difficult to lose weight. Sorry to read that so many of you have had problems. I have 2 girlfriends who had trouble tolerating any type of BC pills. Our bodies are so different and so sensitive. Good luck in finding the right solution for you!Read More Read Less

Since my pharmacy switched me to Necon from Nortrel a month ago, I have developed a bad rash on my back, HORRIBLE acne on my chin/neck, migraines for days at a time, severe dizziness, and nausea. I just figured out that it was from this pill and will be calling my doctor/pharmacy tomorrow and stopped taking the pill immediately. I think I am allergic to it and experiencing horrifying side effects. Please pay attention and be careful on this pill.

I used to take Sprintec (which I miss dearly) until my doctor put me on this bc. The first month I didn't notice anything different unless I missed a day and took two at once. When I did that I had the worst cramps. The second month I didn't get my period at all. The third month I got my period and it didn't fully stop for a full month. I would have maybe one day that I didn't spot or have full on super tampon day. During that month my period days were heavy and I literally had clots dropping out of me. Not small ones HUGE ones. I have NEVER in all my life (with bc or with out) have had huge clots let alone the amount (3 huge ones a day for a month). I've also noticed an increase in headaches lately as well. I called my doctor and she is switching me back to sprintec. Thank heavens. I would NOT recommend this bc to anyone! EVER!Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this 4 months ago because I had been cramping for weeks at a time, before and after my period. I had been on the same BC for 4-5 years before this happened so my dr thought maybe changing things up would help. For the first month I spotted almost daily but the cramps were gone as was the heavier periods I am used to having. However, I have gained 10lbs in 4 months and I am always bloated. I have terrible PMS and get headaches quite a bit, and I am tired/fatigued more often. I did enjoy the lighter periods but I would also spot for 4-5 days AFTER my 4-5 day period, which was ruining a lot of underwear. I also broke out a ton and my face is just finally clearing up after at least a couple months of bad skin. I am now back on the previous BC I had that had been working fine besides the cramping. I would rather cramp that be a bloated, zitty, hysterical mess.Read More Read Less
