I was prescibed 10 mg dosage at 8pm to help with sleeplessness, irritable bowel syndrome, and back and neck pain. This has been a miracle drug for me! The cost is so much cheaper than the newer drugs that did not help. I would recommend trying this drug. The first few nights I was a little tired the next day, but now I feel wonderful. I can't believe it worked because I was very skeptical.

I had a major surgery in April, and about a couple of months later...I felt something painful in side my skin. Went to see the same doctor that did my surgery and explain to him about the pain and trouble sleeping. He prescribe me with this elavil meds. After I read everything about this elavil...I was in shock? Why did the doctor want me to take this meds? I did not take the medicine because I do...

I am disabled and was prescribed soma for muscle spasms. I take elavil at night for sleep, pain. NOW IM STARTING TO HAVE BLACKOUTS. I DO NOT SUGGEST MIXING SOMAS AND ELAVIL. I got up early one Saturday morning to go to walmart and wrecked my truck (totaled it). So I stopped taking the somas. Lucky to be alive.

I have been taking Lyrica for Neuropathy for five yrs. Last year the pain got worse so the dr added Elavil to my medications. It has been a life saver. I lost my daughter last month and the Elavil helped with my depression. I recommend that any one who has depression along with other medical issue talk with your physican about Elavil.

I had little change in my headache issue. The side effect I had was its drying effect. My eyes are so dry I now need Restasis, I drink massive amounts of water, my skin is now very dry and wrinkled, and my vision issues are frustrating.

I am very pleased with this drug. I have been taking it regularly for about two months now and the only real problem I have had with it is I need to make sure I always have a drink or gum with me becuase I get marked dry mouth when I talk a lot or at night. Considering what it is relieving me from (debilitating migraines), I will take the dry mouth over anything! I had problems sleeping before as well and this has helped to get me into a regular sleep pattern.

I started out taking 50 mg. for sleep problems. It helped some, so Dr. said to increase to 100 mg. Did work somewhat better, but, developed tinnitus and breathing problems. Tinnitus become very loud and with my Dr. ok, I ceased taking.

It helped me to wake up without a headache. I sleep better at night. Learned to take it earlier in the day to be able to wake up easier. at first I had a hard time to wake up. I have felt bloated but that went away, dry mouth went away in time also. Gained 5lbs but would rather have that then a headache. My appetite increased no too much just a bit more. All round it has been a life saver not to have headaches at all.

I take this once a day for my migraines which before starting it i had a migraine for 6 months straight. It doesn't stop me from getting them necessarily but i rarely feel them anymore. But however i tried to stop taking them one and the first night i barely slept the second night it was like i couldnt shut off my brain to sleep. the third night it was like someone had their finger stuck on the channel button of random sounds words pictures of words and pictures that were all totally unrelated. by the fourth night i was bawling it was making me so nauseous from it never siccing so i went back on em and it stopped. But then i got pregnant and my doc told me i have to get off them... well that didn't go to well... And one time they stopped making them and i couldn't get any of the proper dose for almost 3 months.Read More Read Less

I've taken Elavil for at least 20 years. Initially prescribed for depression but it does help arthritic joints relax and rest. The initial "hangover" feeling doesn't last for more than a few days to a month. Now that I am disabled and retired I can sleep for up to 10 consecutive hours. Couldn't do that through most of my working life. Lots of my nights were zero sleep up to four hours. Elavil really is a gift when you cannot sleep.

Has helped me in so many ways, helped with depression and migraine headaches. A extra plus it made me sleep well at night, ended my insomnia and by back problems lessened. I only go once a month to the chirpractor. Has been a life saver for me. No side effects have been noticed other than good ones.
