The headaches, dizziness and sore throat suck. I would get off this stuff now if the insurance company would agree to it.

I have COPD and this med solved my breathing issues. Only negative is it seems to have reduced my immune system quite a bit. This is a listed side effect so I was not suprised.

I was told I had mild asthma and "restrictive lung disease," the result of a childhood illness (I started this medication when I was 68 years old). I was told to take this medicine two inhales, twice a day but felt "edgy" doing this and reduced usage to two inhales once a day. My coughing has gotten worse, not better. My voice is weaker (forget trying to sing!) and my throat is often sore and feels swollen. I have also gotten a lot of infections since beginning the use of Q-Var and see from reading other reviews the suggestion that the immune system can be impaired by this medication. I've also become anemic since starting this medication and question whether I might be having slight bleeding problems periodically from its use. I am thinking of slowly stopping this medication over time to see if the described difficulties improve. Yes, I have pointed out some of these issues to my doctor, but he is the "nods-knowingly" type but still thinks I need to continue taking this medication. Read More Read Less

Is believe this drug is usually taken for asthma, inhaled through the mouth; but not for my condition. For severe seasonal rhinitis my allergist put a nipple over the opening and has me take 1-2 puffs per nostril (intranasal) each day. I have been using it this way for over a year and it works like a charm.

Been on Qvar for about a month. Supposed to do 2 puffs in AM and 2 puffs in PM. Stopped doing the AM dose because I was getting mad for absolutely no reason. After stopping the AM dose I was OK and haven't had any other side effects. Continued the PM dose and it works well. I rarely have to use my rescue inhaler during the night. I use hot water to rinse with after taking it and haven't experienced any throat or voice problems so far. Over all this has worked better than other meds I've tried (except prednisone) , especially considering there seem to be very few side effects. I got horrible heart palpitations while taking this, really bad - sometimes a couple palpitations per minute. I took the 40 mcg 1 puff twice a day. I have switched to flovent and all is well.

I have had asthma for 20+ years and been on various asthma medications. recently I have had more attacks and went to the Dr who prescribed Brio Ellipta and after still having attacks Qvar for an additional cortisteroid. Living with Asthma, every day is a challenge, Qvar started working after 4- 5 days. just as good as my albuterol would. I rinse well after use to minimize yeast infections. but overall no side effects. even though the Dr prescribed 2 puffs 2x daily - I only take one puff 2x daily with good results.Read More Read Less

Since my Grandson who is eight started taking Qvar 40mg it made him jumpy ,moody,Hyper agitated.We wondered what happened to our sweet boy.We thought it might be sugar but he hates sweets.We looked back when this started and it was when we started giving him this medicine.It made us very upset because the Dr told us this wouldn't make him jumpy and moody well it is not imagination .Other people complained about the same results with children.

I have finally gotten my asthma under controll with this medication it's amazing!!!

I started using Qvar 40MG to control my asthma. Took it briefly for 2 months, then my insurance refused to pay for it! When I went back to my doctor he precribed a higher dose, Qvar 80MG, but again insurance refused it for me! Had no side effects to the medicine. So back on Albuteral inhaler and a breathing machine. Medicine is extremely expensive. Wondering if there is a discount for the medicine.

It keeps messing with my voice. Don't mind the gravelly-ness (it makes me sound bluesy) but some days my voice just about disappears.

This medication has been a miracle drug for me. I was diagnosed with mild persistant asthma. I used to cough a lot and now I rarely cough. I haven't noticed any side effects, thankfully. With this treatment, I don't need my rescue inhaler.

I've had asthma for almost 10 years and have been taking only aburlte and it stopped working for me. Doctor put me on this, it did mess with my voice a little I noticed. but it helped with my breathing. I haven't taken my resuce inhaler in month!

got a heavy bleeding nose

Have been taken qvar for four months/I feel 100% better with no problems. Also take sprivia with qvar. My voice is a little hoarse but can breathe much better.

started 2puffs twice a day. muscles ached, brused veryeasy skin tore. went down to 2puffs once a day still have brusing. Can breath easier and don't use pro air but once a month. Needs a counter when you have to use it everyday.

It caused me to be more dependent on oxygen.
