I have Asthma and was coughing almost non-stop. My Doctor added Qvar along with my regular Proventil Inh. and in one week I was 88% back to normal on Peak flow. Yes I still have bad days but QVAR is working for me. You must use it daily and not miss any doses. Also wash out your mouth after each use. Your voice sounds may change somewhat but it's the breathing and life that count, make the most of...

I experienced hoarseness and voice became gravely.. But the worse part was that it messed with my head.... I became sad and depressed for no reason.... at first didn't make the connection but when I did I quit taking it and in a few weeks was myself again. All Drs should tell their patients this is a possibility . I would not have taken it if I had known.

This medication needs to have a count on the label so you can see when it is all gone.

I am 65 yrs. old - was recently diagnosed with asthma and 1/3 loss of breathing capacity. No prior history - never used inhalers. Dr. recommended Qvar 2 puffs am; 2 pm - this was after I couldn't tolerate Symbicort side effects. Qvar helped with breathing (I'd had severe tightness in chest and shortness of breath) - have used Qvar approx. 6 weeks now. About a week ago, throat began to feel obstructed and sore - I have had difficulty swallowing as well, and these symptoms are now constant - not good - am unhappy. Must report to doctor - feel like something's stuck in my throat all the time - very unpleasant sensation that I don't want to live with!Read More Read Less

My 3 1/2 year old began taking this medication 4 weeks ago, he has become extremely aggressive, I hate you has become his go to phrase, violent outbursts, extreme rage, biting me, nursery school called and had me pick him up. Asthma is controlled no more night time asthma coughing but need to find something else. Impossible to live with his present mental state, tantrums, hitting and major mood swings. Need my sweet boy back and soon!!

I tried it for about a week and had a severe bronchospasm when I discontinued use. I stopped using it because it was causing me to lose my voice, I felt like my head was going to explode and like my bronchial tubes were paralyzed.

I was diagnosed with Adult Onset Asthma 5 months ago. My doctor put me on Proair HFA; it worked but I had to use it more times a day than the doctor really wanted me to. She put me on Qvar (once in the morning/once at night) with the Proair to use for backup. I have been on Qvar now almost 3 months and it is amazing how much better I am doing and how much less I need the Proair.

My 8 year old son used this for his Asthma and prevention. It seem to work, however the side effects of bloody noses, dizziness and bumps on his tongue has caused him to stop. If you can get away from the side effects it seems to work.
Was taking several different asthma meds before trying qvar and since starting it I have not had to use my every day inhaler and have stopped taking some of my other asthma meds. I am very happy with the results of qvar
