I have Asthma and was coughing almost non-stop. My Doctor added Qvar along with my regular Proventil Inh. and in one week I was 88% back to normal on Peak flow. Yes I still have bad days but QVAR is working for me. You must use it daily and not miss any doses. Also wash out your mouth after each use. Your voice sounds may change somewhat but it's the breathing and life that count, make the most of...

My 6yr old son was given Qvar when our insurance co. would no longer allow us flovent. Flovent had been effective, but expensive. The Qvar is not working, is not user friendly, having no counter on the base of the container and we have since had to request the flovent back through medical necessity. We were req'd to get the flovent back through mail order only and that wait was excrutiating. The Qvar did not work, his chronic cough returned and he did have nosebleeds with it. It was not worth trying to save money and again makes me sad that our insurance can try to govern how our Dr.'s treatment plays out. Read More Read Less

I was on Advair from my doctor and he decided to try and take me off 2 meds and put me on one. I was amazed at the change. I feel much better and don't have the thrush that Advair gave me. Plus Qvar is covered by my insurance.

Qvar is definitely my favorite. I take one puff in the morning and one at night (80 mcg). I've tried Pulmacort, Singular and Asthmanex. While on Qvar, I quit having nighttime attacks and went from using a rescue inhaler daily to weekly. I'd recommend being diligent about rinsing your mouth out after using to prevent sore throat, etc. I didn't have any other side effects.

This was prescribed to my 5 year old daughter and she began to be moody and disruptive at daycare. I called the doctor and they said to discontinue immediately. I had no idea that this could cause mood swings I would had never given it to her if I had known.

My daughter has been taking this medicine for a few days now. Her coughing ahs gotten better, but she has started to get terrible nose bleeds that last from 30 mins to a hour, but other than that she has been okay.

My insurance company does not cover Advair so my doctor put me on this. It is terrible and I will not take it again. It made my breathing even worse and for 2 days I felt very ill and weak after using it. He put me on a similar inhaler last year which actually sent me to the ER with an asthma attack and bronchitis. As often as I have to use my rescue inhaler, it is a shame this does not help & that it weakens the immune system as well. Dangerous stuff- at least for me.

Took this medication because my insurance company wouldn't pay for Singulair, which I took successfully for 8 years with no side effects. Had horrible mood swings and depression. Had to stop taking it after 1 week.

I have been using Qvar for several years, when my insurance company stopped covering Flovent. Most days it works well, but as one other user stated on wet, heavy air days I breathe harder and sometimes to get a cleansing breath in I have to bend over at the waist and breath in; sometimes several times a day. I am thinking of asking if I need another inhaler, but I would rather stay away from the broncodilators; they make me shakey and my heart races. I don't like that feeling.
