I have Collagenous Colitis and this is the only medicine that has helped besides Prednisone (which I only took for one week). I've been on Budesonide off & on for 5 years. Each time I go off of it the symptoms return.

Been on Budesonide for 6 years and have good relief of severe diarrhea caused by microscopic colitis after finding no relief from other meds. Side effects are thin skin, dry mouth and fatigue.

Budesonide worked very well to quiet my microscopic colitis. Caused no obvious systemic side effects, but caused significant thinning of the skin, first on arms, later on legs, a mild “bump” would cause a superficial laceration, and the forearms were terribly bruised with extensive superficial hemorrhages. My legs less so. Stopping, then resuming, the Budesonide, cemented the drug as the culprit. I am now taking a biologic, admittedly a more toxic medication, but my skin has made a comeback and lacerations upon trivial encounters have stopped. In the past, just a slight trauma to my hands, e.g.reaching for something, resulted in immediate bruising, if not a frank laceration. I’ve not seen reports of this nature so maybe my experience will comfort others that they are not unuque.Read More Read Less

I found cortiment worked OK.ro.bring me to remission. It reduced all my inflammatory markers, but, it seams to have effectes my kidneys, since I came off it my renal function has gone away down and my BP had gone up. Hoping this will correct itself in time.

I am one month in of 3pills a day which will be tapered off over the next two months, 2 pill then one pill. Daily Pain and diarrhea every morning has gone away but my stomach bloating and constipation have definitely worsened. Hoping to see more results in the next two months - like other reviewers mentioned. I am a bit puffy All over, I think as a side effect but I’m fine and just being kind to myself for trying to heal. Will update after.

I have been taking for just 2 weeks. Had polyp removal and hemroidectomy and diarrhea was out of control and inhibited healing. Within 2 days I was better. I am a bit more tired and concerned I’ll have side effects but sticking with this especially since I still have a lot of pain and healing needs to continue.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in December and this is about my 10th medication I’ve been on because absolutely nothing is working for me, and neither has this. If anything it’s been making it worse, not better.

I started taking this after testing positive for H Pylori. After getting tested because I had extreme diarrhea, I was put on a treatment but the diarrhea never stopped if anything it worsened. Finally got this medicine prescribed and it stopped the diarrhea on the second day. While I’m so grateful for that. I randomly have a hard time breathing and random panic attacks since I started this. I’ve only been on it for 3 days.

My question is I have just started taking this drug and I am curious of how long it took patients to achieve remission.

I've been on this drug for 6 years and works perfectly... However I've been very tired and without energy for an extended period x 12 months now and am going to to doctor to find out whether it may be long term use of this drug.

After a year of constantly running to the toilet and not making it in time, feeling so ill, no appetite, feeling sick and lost 2 stone in weight, the doc finaly referred me to hospital and had colonoscopy. I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis, but still didn't find this out until nearly 3 months later as that was when my appointment to go back to specialist. Meanwhile I got so ill that I got badly dehydrated and only clear liquid was running out of me and was constantly trying to vomit. My husband called for ambulance. Paramedics phoned my gp who then got in touch with hospital specialist who prescribed Budesonide. Miracle drug. Since the first dose, the day after my collapse I have NOT had diarrhea. I finally got my life back after a year of up to 15 to 18 Imodium A DAY, and stuck at home for fear of soiling myself. I have been taking it for 6 months and now beginning to put weight back on. I don't appear to have any side affects as yet, but then I would put up with them rather than be a prisoner to Microscopic Colitis C, and the shear misery that comes with it. Good luck to you all and I hope this helps you. Budesonide is truly my wonder drug.Read More Read Less
