This is the best antibiotic out there for me. It clears my ear congestion up and sinus problems from my allergies better than anything else. I wish more doctors would prescribe this instead of pushing zpack. My internist wants to always prescribe regular amoxicillan and it just doesn't work for me.

First off, I wish I had read the reviews prior to taking this drug. My Dr put me on this because I have nasal polyps and a deviated septum which he thinks is causing me to have a chronic sinus infection. Because of the severity of my sinusitis he wanted me on this for 2 weeks to start, up to 4 total. I am on day 5 of this and the first couple of days were OK. Skip ahead and I am now spending m...

I fight with my 6 year daughter to take it. Is the worst taste ever the augmentin fruit powder. The only way that she could take it is if I blend strawberry liquid juice. Now when doctor wants to prescribe antibiotic we ask not to be Augmentin due to the bad taste (augmentin mixed fruit powder for oral suspension)

Took this for about 5 days 850mg twice a days. Inside lower lip on gums started turning white, of course it scared me. Whole chin and mouth became very painful. Huge white spot. Read about this and stopped immediately never again. Was ready to call dentist that day.

Got an infection in my fingertip from a wound. I took a 7 day round of an antibiotic that did not work. Dr. prescribed Augmenting 1 pill every 12 hours. Positives: it works, by day 3 my finger was much better. Negatives: Day 3 woke up with a severe headache with neck and upper back pain. Day 6 ended up back at the dr. office because the headache would not go away. dr. told me if things didn't improve after day 7 to stop taking it. Later day 6, started having body aches/muscle pain, like I had worked out really hard, and just felt like I had the flu without a fever. I missed 2 days of work after I had stopped taking this for feeling flu like symptoms. It has been 3 days since my last dose and I finally feel a bit better. Anxiety was bad the entire time as well. As far as stomach issues, gas and mild constipation, otherwise only mild nausea here and there. I have asked my dr, to put it in my chart that I do NOT want this drug ever again. It was actually a bit scary, the muscle pain was pretty intense. Read More Read Less

I've taken Augmentin several times over the last 30 years and it has always worked to clear up my sinus infections. I didn't experience any of the gastrointestinal issues other than some gas. I usually take probiotics after I'm done with it to build back some good bacteria.

Was prescribed by Doctor for flu and sinus! Took it for 5 days and on the 6th day I started showing severe symptoms like trapped gas, bloating, vomiting and nausea. I stopped on my 5th day but I’m having this side effects for the last 7 days. Was rushed to the ER, told the Doctor what had happened and he said augmentin doesn’t cause any side effects, he gave me injection and wants me to take 3 Omeprazole IV! I don’t know what to do anymore, the upper abdominal pain is bad and every time I vomit nothing comes out since I am unable to eat anything. Read More Read Less

Prescribed for infection in extracted tooth socket after Keflex failed to clear infection. 875-125 mg tablets twice a day for four days.Very big pills but I am able to swallow them. No diarrhea but strangely some constipation ,gas, reflux causing chest pain, uncontrolable anxiety, crying, muscle aches, dizziness, headache, severe lower abdominal pain. Horrible experience. However tooth pain is improving somewhat. I have only one more day so will attempt to finish it. Then going back to dentist for recheck. I'll never take this again.Read More Read Less

Had to stop taking it after 24 hours, I was so nauseous and sick that I couldn't keep any food or water down and since I had just gotten my wisdom teeth removed I was in a huge amount of pain from the vomiting and lack of pain medication due to that.

This medication is horrible. Diagnosed with diverticulitis at ER on Monday. It is now Saturday and I not only don’t feel better, I actually feel worse! This medicine keeps you on the toilet, makes you nauseous, acid reflux, etc. I was prescribed 875/125 mg for 10 days. On day 5 now and have had to cut it back to 2 pills a day. Trying to get through it but thinking of just stopping altogether. So not worth it.

About 1 week after finishing augmentin I ended up in ICU in the hospital with a very serious allergic reaction. I had a rash, itching all over and swelling and my joints hurt considerable. I had severe sepsis and was septic. I have had augmentin in the past for sinus infections but no more.

BE CAUTIOUS AND KNOW THE SIDE EFFECTS!!! A month or so after taking it, I started to get a yellow tent in my eyes. It started as a very pale yellow. I ended up getting COVID a few weeks after notice the color change and my whole body and eyes turned dark yellow in a matter of days. I ended up in the ER and was diagnosed with Adverse Drug Reaction in which the amoxicillin was attacking my liver. COVID did make the ADR increase the damage it was doing faster, but I am not the first patient the GI Specialist has diagnosed because of this antibiotic. He has had two patient need liver transplants. Needless to say, I am heading to a Liver Disease Specialist for a second look at the damage to my liver. Read More Read Less

Horrific experience. I would not recommend this drug for anyone. 4 hours after taking it I was violently vomiting nonstop for the next 5 hours with horrendous diarrhea. I felt very out of it And extremely weak. I only took one and discontinued immediately. Not worth it whatsoever.

I took Augmentin for a second episode of diverticulitis. The first time around (two years ago) I took Cipro and Flagyl which felt like a controlled forest burn of my intestines. Augmentin was MUCH easier to tolerate. I second those whoâ??ve suggested taking it with probiotics. This makes all the difference. I took one or two probiotics about 2 hours before and also 2 hours after each dose. Definitely take it with a large snack or meal. Experienced only some mild indigestion about 30 minutes after taking it. My symptoms started improving around day 3 with continued improvement. For probiotics, I took a broad spectrum one with multiple strains plus a high powered version of Florastor. I was terrrified of taking Augmentin after reading all the reviews but dove in with the proper supports because there was no way I was going back to the Cipro combo. Good luck and I hope it works for you! Read More Read Less

I have been taking this antibiotic for 2 and a half days, and I do not feel like myself. I feel sweaty, as if I am perspiring uncontrollably. My anxiety level is higher than normal, and I feel shaky, tired, and extremely achy in my lower back and neck area. The symptoms that I have described are so much of a nuisance that I do not even know if I feel better that I originally did before the medication or not. Seriously thinking of stopping the Augmentin!

The pills were huge. Caused stomach pain and excessive bruising for the first few days. A week into the treatment and I developed a large hematoma on my backside that may need to be surgically removed.
