I was stopped up, so my plan was to drink it in the morning and go straight to the office and get er done on the company roll of toilet paper. Three miles to go, though and it was already churning up powerful peristalsis. By the time I burst through the office door the pressure at my rear sphincter had built up to about 40 PSI at least. Bee line to the restroom, fired off the charge into the bo...

I passed out from the taking the over the counter medication. I was ordered to take 2-bottles of Magnesium Citrate for a pre-prep Colonoscopy test. I cancelled my appointment afterwards.

Day 3. I'm writing this from the toilet at 1:00 am Thursday. I took MC around 4:00 pm Monday. Monday night around midnight I had 1 good BM. I woke up the next morning thinking wow that stuff isn't so bad. I decided to go run my errands as usual directly after saying "MC didn't work for me" I had to come home for a new pair of underwear. The rest of the day went smoothly until about midnight. My toilet will never be the same. I pooped chewed undigested food. Is that healthy? I'm pretty sure I got rid of gum that I swallowed less than 7 years ago. To say this stuff does the job is an understatement. Sooo... I thought I was in the clear until I got in the shower Wednesday night. Apparently at some point during the day I had a wet fart complete with corn. Is it normal for poop to sneak out without me knowing? As soon as I got our of the shower i I felt that familiar rumble from last night. Is MC nocturnal? It only seams to hit me at night. How long will it last???? SEND HELP!!!Read More Read Less

What happens when you drink 10 oz of Magnesium Citrate? I'm glad you asked... 12:05 pm: It's time. You shotgun a 10 oz bottle like it's a lukewarm PBR. It's suppose to be grape flavored but it's becoming quite clear that whoever led the R&D team that day has never actually tasted anything grape in their life. You are already regretting this decision. 12:06 pm: You eat a handful of chips, It's going to turn to liquid form before it even clears your throat but you don't care. All is right in the world at this moment. Hold on to that. You're about to enter a very dark period in your life. 12:37 pm: First sign of life. The pressure is growing. You already have 5 lbs of impacted crap in your colon and you basically just drank the "safe for humans" version of Drano. You feel a poop coming on finally. You think it's time. You're wrong. You get a little snake turd as a teaser. Take note...this is the last semi-solid thing you will see leaving your body for the next 24 hours. 12:57 pm: That little science experiment you got cooking is about to reach it's boiling point. Your stomach is angry now. It hates you...you can feel it. You have exactly .3 seconds to make it to the nearest toilet but you can't run... NEVER run! You pray to god there is enough elasticity in your butthole to keep the gates closed 5 more steps as you start to preemptively undo your pants to save valuable time. Almost there. 3...2...1... 12:58 pm: Sweet Mary, mother of God...is this real life? Your cheeks barely hit the seat and all hell breaks loose. The crap/ water mixture you've just created comes out with such force that it actually sprays the back of the toilet bowl at a 45 degree angle thus deflecting it in every direction but down. Is that blood? False alarm. That's just the remnants of a cherry pie you ate at Thanksgiving...when you were 5. The smell is horrid...the sound is frightening. You try to clench whats left of your butthole to soften the blow but it's not working. The whole house just heard your liquid fart as it gurgled out of your butt. 1:06 pm- 8:30 pm: Everything's a blur. You have crapped out everything you have ever eaten since the day you were born, everything your ancestors have ever eaten since the early 1800's, and your butt now feels like you have a flaming hot Cheeto and the tears of a thousand Jalapeno seeds stuck in it. You're now curled up in the bathtub crying because you have to remain within arm's reach of the toilet at all times. You have the poop sweats. You meet Jesus. 8:37 pm: You're broken. Your butthole is broken. Your spirit's broken. Life as you know it will never be the same. But...tomorrow's a new day. You're going to wake up, throw on the only remaining pair of underwear have and you're going to run up to Walmart with the last shred of dignity you have left...and buy yourself a new toilet brush. You've earned it.Read More Read Less

30 minutes to two hours?!?! More like 30 seconds! I drank 6oz of a 10oz bottle and within one minute I was Naruto running towards the throne. As soon as I dropped my trousers, the lemon flavored plunger juice made my bottom erupt harder than Eddie Van Halen. Hopefully the teacher doesn't come in here after I'm done. Whew. 5/5.

It got flagged by my primary as a possible allergy since I’m allergic to codeine. Called hospital that prescribed and was told it was okay and I took it because I believed them. Spent the whole night vomiting and having the same reaction I have to codeine. Didn’t do anything else. Outside the vomiting. Didn’t poop at all that’s for sure. I couldn’t even move without vomiting I was so dizzy and sick from it. Pissed off at the ER that’s for sure.

The key for me is the shot glass— warm or cold, shooting it down makes it palatable. And it worked as advertised—not sure you should do yard work in between bathroom runs. I’m feeling totally wired and a little anxious.

I'm 76, live alone and was prepping for routine colonoscopy. Was told to drink 10 oz. of magnesium citrate at noon then two hours later start drinking the gallon of Gatoraide/Miralax solution during the next few hours. The MC didn't taste bad but was very sweet tasting. Within 1/2 hour I could tell the it was starting to work (rumbling only) so went into the bathroom at sat. During the next 1/2 hour before I even had a BM, I had terrible things happen to my body. First I felt my pulse slow down to about 60 beats/min. and my heart was thumping hard. Shortly after that my face and head started to sweat profusely, with my hair actually dripping. Shortly after that I suddenly got a feeling of complete exhaustion. I've never had anything like that before in all my years, never during delivery of my kids nor with any illness I've ever had. I felt like I might not be able to make my body stay sitting and wanted so badly to lay on the bathroom floor but wasn't sure I'd be able to get up off the floor and onto the toilet because I had no energy at all. I did very slowly manage to get off the toilet and go get a fan close by and train it on my face which helped some. I almost called the ambulance because all of this was very scary as I wasn't sure what was happening to my body. The only thing that stopped me was that I knew at this point the medicine was going to start very soon and I wouldn't be able to control my bowels in the ambulance. All these symptoms lasted about 1/2 hour and after that I started getting back to 'normal' and finally started evacuating stool. I've had several colonoscopies over the years, never before using MC just the Gatoraide/Miralax solution and if I happen to need one again I will not use it. My primary doctor said he'd not heard of anyone experiencing these symptoms after taking it. I sure wish I knew what caused this bad reaction in me. Read More Read Less

DISCLAIMER - TMI: Drank half the bottle of the 10oz grape saline laxative, it took 2 hours and then it was quick and strong. Hit me again around 2 hours later. Very interested to know the science behind how suddenly everything is liquid, it was like the strongest pee stream of my life but from the other side ????

Was way on vacation and did not have a bowel movement for over a week. I’m 5,5 and 135lbs and normally have a bowel movement every other day. I was very uncomfortable and need something to relive my situation. First tried natural remedies and they did not work. At night I drank 1 bottle of the lemon solution with a large glass of water. It was sour but not that bad of a taste. I did feel full and a bit bloated i went to bed and hat a good night sleep. About 10 hours later around 9 am my stomach started to make noise. I felt the urge to go but was able to hold it in for about another hour. Before taking this laxative it’s was extremely painful to pass stool. And I was just afraid of the pain . Once I went the first movement was very hard and then soft . The second bowel moment of the day was all liquid and my stomach felt so much better . I would use again no cramping and complete relief. Use magnesium citrate oral laxative when nothing else works. My doctor prescribed after travel when constipation resulted from time changes and new foods and when 2 mild laxatives did nothing. I took 10 oz. bottle at 4 p.m with glass of water and at 10 p.m. I got an urge to head for the toilet. This continued every hour or two until 5 a.m. when I felt thoroughly cleaned out, drinking water to stay hydrated. Strong stuff but very effective.

Okay so this is my second time taking this, the first time seemed easier I took the first half nothing then the second half of the bottle I pooped once than watery for about a few hours later. And was fine. So this time around I have been dealing with right awful awful cramping. I thought it was my appendix, after tests I was told I was backed up in my large intestine and too drink a half a bottle. So I went home and the next day at 7am took half the bottle, around 8:45am nothing so I drank the second half. Oh man, my experience this time was watery brown very thin substance in the toilet (sorry gross but your here for a laxative review right? Lol) and that stayed the same for a few hours, I had the rumbles but then it started to calm down. It’s currently 7:00 pm my stomach is definitely still rumbling I’ve gone the watery stuff a few more times. But I am crampy like period crampy, I’m a little uncomfortable to the touch. I might try taking an Advil this time around. I do like this stuff though. My advice to you, do it on a weekend, when your off, I also did it when my husband was around just in case for my 3 year old. I feel a little better, definitely tired of running to the bathroom and the cramping is still there. But it works. Read More Read Less

So the other day I went to the doctor for really bad cramping in my stomach and lower right side. He did a CT scan and it showed that I was severely constipated. He told me to take half a magnesium citrate and 5 doses of miralax with an hour between each. I got home at like 9 at night from being in the hospital, and took the magnesium. It was good until I realized we were out of miralax. So my mom being the great mom she is, told me to drink the rest and have a ton of water so I did. Fell asleep, woke up. And blew the toilet sky-high. This stuff works wonders. I was reading everyone's comments and was dying of laughter.Read More Read Less

Have continuous issues with constipation from opiods. Dr. recommended this, along with glycerine suppository. I don't feel like I am completely cleaned out when I drink 1 bottle, probably should drink 2, as others have done. I use the lemon flavored liquid, drank at room temp in past, I'll try it cold, next time. Tastes not good, but it's not too offensive. Does hep me, I need to start taking 3 times a week, or so-I need to have regularity.

Usually I know better than to eat Panda Express for several days in a row without including occasional Taco Bell to chase things through the pipes and down the chute, but here I was, trying unsuccessfully to lay a pterodactyl egg. Hearing that magnesium citrate was about the most powerful laxative that one could buy OTC, I bought some of the Vons Signature brand and poured it on ice and got it good and cold. The taste, surprisingly, was pretty decent. In about 60 minutes it forced that egg out. Surprisingly, very little nausea and no other discomfort. About the only down side was that it kept cleaning me out every 15 minutes for the next six hours, but when all is said and done, I'd use this again. It's the best.Read More Read Less

I decided to cleanse my system since I had been feeling full for the past few days- I knew I had not been eating right and wanted to get the stuffed and dragging feeling off of me. I have taken this in the past and it worked amazingly well. I had only taken one bottle and drank plenty of water. It began working in about an hour or 2; this time taking it it began working in 2 hours with rumbling and hard stool. I must have more in the tank than last time- Wish me well!!

For colonoscopy prep, took one 10oz bottle at 4pm; second bottle at 6pm and third bottle at 2:45 am, about 4 hours before procedure. Took about 45 minutes to start working, settled down about 1am, then picked up afterfinal dose. Refrigerate and drink with water and white grape juice. Follow your providers directions!
