After multiple courses of antibiotic treatments, and a suggestion that I go on acutane, I found a wonderful dermatologist who prescribed aldactone for my hormonal acne. I am writing this for my girlfriend of 10 years who started taking this drug about 3 weeks ago. Over the last four days her behavior has become nothing short of psychotic. She has attacked me physically, she is convinced I am having multiple affairs and she cries hysterically. And she completely denies that this drug has anything to do with her behavior change. What the heck should I do?

After multiple courses of antibiotic treatments, and a suggestion that I go on acutane, I found a wonderful dermatologist who prescribed aldactone for my hormonal acne. He explained that the drug binds to the receptors on my oil glands, blocking the hormones from binding there and activating them. My skin has been clear for several years now. It's been necessary to increase the dosage over time, but it's really been a miracle drug for me. I was surprised not to see this listed as one of its uses. The added bonus is that this drug comes in several generic forms, since it's been around for so long, so the treatment is less expensive than any other I've tried---and 100 times more effective!Read More Read Less

There is no test. I have P. H., specifically Conn's Syndrome. The spiro has removed the multitude of symptoms you get with Conn's. I feel great, am able to excercise and be active again. This medicine has given me my life back. I may eventually have corrective surgery to remove the benign tumor on my adrenal gland, but this medicine makes that procedure optional rather than manditory.

I started taking this RX due to hair growth on my lip area and chin area. I have only been on this RX for 35 days, I am unsure if has presented any positive delay in any hair growth, as I still have some hair growth, but as I have been informed it will delay if not curtail any further "New" hair growth, so it is undetermined if I would have had additional hair growth without the RX, so I choose to continue taking the RX in hopes that the hair growth will cease in new areas other than the small areas I have now. I will keep you informed if anything changes.Read More Read Less

I have only been on this medication for 4 days now.  I take it twice a day for a total of 50mg daily.  I have PCOS.  Since starting this pill I have had two consecutive episodes of diarrhea at the same time every day.  Has anyone else experienced this?

It works for the swelling in my ankles, but the severe hair loss and itching skin are unacceptable.

I take Aldactone for hair loss and HBP. Currently, I take 200 mg of Aldactone daily. My blood pressure is great, but the hair loss is still a problem. I have noticed a lightheadedness lately, but no other side effects. If my hair loss condition doesn't improve, I'll decrease my dosage. I miss eating foods with potassium.

I was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis three years ago. I took cocktail after cocktail of different combinations of medication and estrogen/anti-cancer pills...EVERYTHING! There is no pill better than Aldactone. It gives visible/physical results like no other med can! It's unbelievable.

Prescribed for hirsutism due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). After I stopped taking it, hirsutism got worse, foot and leg pain and swelling developed, acne developed. However, after stopped taking it, had weight gain and adrenal levels lower - shouldn't it have been the opposite?

Had horrific swelling of ankles & feet. After taking this medicine, they never looked better. No swelling at all. Only down side was extreme tiredness. When I ran out of my script, I had a terrible case of tendonitis in ankle & heel. Not sure if that was related to stopping medication though. Very pleased with drug for swelling.

My dermatologist prescribed this drug for perioral acne. It worked great for the acne but I had severe thirst and terrible mood swings with loss of energy and excess fatigue - something I have never had trouble with in the past. I have been off the medication for a month now and I feel SO much better. I was surprised that this drug so adversely affected my mood. I would rather have the acne! I may have been more susceptible to the meds because I exercise (and hence sweat) a lot.
