Actually did work for the first few days of taking it. I felt great, felt like all of my anxious thoughts were silenced, but then it just... stopped working. Instead of continuing to work, it gave me horrible dizzy spells throughout the day, sometimes to the point where I felt like I could pass out. Never did, but it scared me quite a bit. I realize everyone reacts differently but this was my experience. Not good long term.

I'm on a low dose 10mg, I have to split it in half and take half in the morning and half before bed. My heart felt like it was going to explode. The meds ease it a bit. I tried going up on mg but made me feel worse so we stayed the same. I don't get any sleepy side effects in fact its the opposite my sleep is worse than before. I've been on this for a year I'm going to go off of it. It's not for me.

I have been diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder which through a lot of hard work have been able to keep relatively under control during covid. My generalized anxiety disorder on the other hand has been extremely severe over the past year or so. I think the wait for this drug to kick in is worth it. It took about three weeks for me to notice my irritability, almost constant thoughts of impending doom, and extreme hypervigilance to come down a few notches. I am happy with Buspirone overall as a default anxiety med. I take 15 mg 3 times a day. The frequency of dosing is a bit of a nuisance, I must admit. I take Lorazepam if things get really unmanageable. I will admit that benzodiazepines and antipsychotics and mood stabilizers are more potent for anxiety, but I don't feel safe taking those on a routine basis. Read More Read Less

Works for anxiety, not as well as Benzos. I feel relaxed in my head, but my body is still tense. I am gaining weight on this drug, so it looks like it is a deal breaker for me. I am already overweight due to antidepressant use in the past.

I became much more anxious after taking this medication, I lost 20 lbs and I had to quit my job. This made my anxiety so much worse and I feel like it's ruined my life. I've been off buspar for a month and I'm just barely starting to feel better. Think twice before taking Buspar.

I have been on this medication for over a year now. I started it after I started Lexapro and trazodone. It has helped me a lot. I started out on 15mg a day and recently went up to 45mg a day. Before I started taking it, I had panic attacks daily. Now, I only have one every week or two.

This medication is the only thing that has helped me to be able to function with my recent diagnosis of life changing illness. Increase in my other anxiety meds helped but not enough. So we added this. And it helped me quit smoking. I've been on this med for about 2 months now and the difference in my anxiety levels are night amd day!! Thank you to the one doctor who has taken the time to actually listen to me and find my rare and debilitating condition. And to help me be able to cope with it.

This medication is not for immediate anxiety refief. I suffered from severe anxiety. My symptoms were insomnia, loss of appetite, uncontrollable shaking legs in bed at night, racing heart and intense fear. No. fun. At all!! I was nervous about side effects, such as nausea. Had no nausea. It took a couple weeks to kick in, and I still get some anxiety (my arms tense and heart beats fast) but I feel so much better over all! I do get a little dizzy sometimes, but nothing bad. I highly recommend for ongoing anxiety! Read More Read Less

I started this is the fall of 2019. I was at the time pregnant and having terrible anxiety attacks to the point of not being able to leave my house . Right away the drug helped me feel better ... Then covid hit , lost everything and had to move across the country . A week later we lost the baby too .... throughout everything I’ve stayed consistent with taking buspar as well as attivan post pregnancy . I also chose to use marijuana on days I feel I need more to help but all in all buspar has been the best anti anxiety drug on the market . I have striped numerous anti depressants , ssris and nothing has worked this well for me. No real side effects or nergative things to say. I’d give it a 10/10 for anyone who wants to try something that will actually work. Read More Read Less

I took this drug just once. It was HORRIBLE. Instant, massive, 7 hour panic attack with rapid heart beat, sweating, shaking uncontrollably and throwing up. I was just ready to go to the ER when it started to ease. This was prescribed for anxiety. What a cruel joke. I have fought the medical system for years to get real help and they say this is the last try.

Only side effect I noticed with this drug is how emotional I got. I am not an emotional person, but all of the sudden when I started taking this, I was crying about little things. But overall it has worked for me.

Buspar is my drug of choice for treating anxiety. I have an anxiety disorder that I was successfully treating with just 5-HTP and GABA (natural supplements that increase serotonin and GABA). However, I recently went through a major stressful life event that required additional help for the time being. I did not want to get back on an SSRI, because of the side effects of decreased sex drive and anorgasmia. I am pleased to report that Buspar greatly has helped my anxiety during this stressful life season without decreasing my sex drive or negatively affecting my ability to have an orgasm. I do sometimes experience feelings of dizziness within an hour to an hour and a half of taking the medication, but I tolerate the feeling. I also have noticed that my resting heart rate has decreased (while I find that SSRI's increased my resting heart rate). The first couple of weeks of taking Buspar, I also experienced insomnia, but I took care of with a low dose CBD oil until my body adjusted to the medication.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Buspirone for panic attacks plus depression. Altnough not listed as an antidepressant it has worked for that in people in the literature. I titrated up to 30 mg twice daily. In the process my anxiety attacks disappeared, and I became highly energized and motivated over a period of a few weeks. I accomplished more in a month or two after starting than in the two years prior...

I canâ??t take SSRIs due for side effects and it took me two weeks and running out of options to take this drug. I have kidney disease and take to medications that interact, so they said for me to take 5mg up to 3 times a day. I think where people go wrong is they stick strictly to the dose off the box. Iâ??ve currently been taking 2.5mg for 5 days and I feel almost back to normal. From the first dose my anxiety went and I only had a slight spaced out feeling for 2 hours, then felt normal. Iâ??m going to stay on the 2.5mg as I feel fine. Iâ??ll ring the chemist Monday and ask if I need to up my dosage, but I donâ??t see why if itâ??s working! I may take another 2.5mg in the evening if necessary, but right now the one dose settles me all day. To me itâ??s a lifesaver and a wonder drug. Very similar to Benzos. Donâ??t be put off by other peopleâ??s horror stories. Start low and see where youâ??re at. I feel like Iâ??ve got another chance at life and I would recommend it to anyone. Read More Read Less
