Understanding Gestational Diabetes - Prevention

How Can I Prevent It?

No one knows for sure if it is possible to prevent gestational diabetes. Certain measures may improve your risk for the condition. It may be helpful to avoid excess weight gain (both before and during pregnancy), exercising reasonably, eating a well-balanced diet, and avoiding medications that may make insulin resistance worse (such as prednisone or other similar medications).
