After years of being treated unsuccessfully for depression, my family doctor diagnosed me with ADD. I have only been on this medication for 1 month, but I want to know - is this what life is like for other people? Can life truly be this effortless? Gone are the constant extraneous thoughts. I can listen to people all the way through a whole sentence, and feel much more connected to the world....
I am a 45 year old female, recently diagnosed with ADHD, which I knew I had my whole life. I have often felt paralyzed and overwhelmed with so many things to do and can't stay on one task. I am opening a photography studio soon and am fearing failure due to my lack of organization. Strattera is the third med I have tried. Although it has calmed we way down, I feel I am too tired and not ambito...

Child is in a broken home only takes meds when with one parent. Gets in trouble in school, has temper tantrum when not getting his way, crying, debating. Please tell me the problems with taking med part time, off and on.

Treated for ADD only. No hyperactivity. Saw marked improvement in focus and grades. Remained disorganized. After about 5 months began to suffer more frequent nausia and vomiting. The Vomiting would onset at 4 am and last until 7 or 8 am. My 12 year old son has become more resistant to taking the drug as a result. We are seeking an alternative.

My son was on this medication for about a year or 2 and at first it seemed to work pretty well, but after a while, some of his symtoms came back and were horrible. Mainly the impulsiveness and fits.

My 11 yr old son has been on many different addhd drugs and this is the ONLY one that actually helped him be able to focus long enough to get his homework done. Granted, we have had to increase it as his tolerance has built up but I am very pleased to say that there are very minimal side effects, lack of appetite compared to the benefits that he has seen with this.

I take 36 mg of Strattera a day. 18mg in the morning and 18mg in the afternoon. At first I had nausea. I also had trouble staying asleep for the first two weeks. The only side effects I have now are that I get dizzy when I stand suddenly, and I have painful menstrual cramps. I'm kind of wondering if I need to take a diferent medication because the only thing I've really noticed is my decreased appetite. I guess I need to talk to my DR about that.

Worked very well, but after a week I averaged about an hour of sleep a night. My doctor pulled me off of it because of this. If you are able to sleep at night while taking this, then it works wonders. Unfortunatly, the side-effects (although my doctor says they are rare) were too overwhelming.

Our 5 year old daugher was diagnosed with ADD a couple of months ago and was prescribed Strattera (currently 28mg daily). It has really calmed her down and helped her focus but tonight she told me (mom) that she see's dead people. Needless to say I was shocked. As we done more research on this drug we learned that she is actually having alot of the side effects. Not only is she hallucinatng but she feels itchy, her limbs are tingling and she seems to get tired real easy. I feel these side effects cause as much anxiety as the ADD. It is an excellent medication for ADD but like any other drug, not everyone can tolerate it or it's side effects. Read More Read Less

My Name is Matthew. I am 21 years old and I live in California. Back when I was in High School my parents made me take this drug. It was very clear to them and everyone else that I hade ADD since I was a child. I wasn't a crazy hyper wild child, but I had a hard time paying attention and coming back from la la land. Anyways, when I got to high school my parents said enough is enough. So we went to the Dr. and he gave me this stuff. The first few weeks were ok. I was actually able to pay attention and rais my grades. I was a B+ student now instead of a C- student. It worked, it really worked....until about a month into the application.I became extremely depressed. I am a musician and I don't feel right if i'm not writing music... well all that stopped in a big hurry. I didn't touch my guitar for like 4 or 5 months streight. i stopped talking to my friends. I wanted to die! Parents, if you don't want this to happen to your child do NOT let the Dr. prescribe this to your child. Trust me, the week I stopped taking this drug, is the week I got my life back. Sure the drug was "effective," but to put that before your childs well being is wrong. Grades are not as important as life. Bottom Line. Read More Read Less

This medicine is a great alternative to stimulant ADHD meds. As an adult with ADHD, it has helped me get through my days and focus immensely. No crashing, no bad side effects. Occasionally if the pill doesn't get all the way to my stomach, it can cause some burning indigestion, but that's rare. All in all, i rate it as a great drug. I can actually focus now!

This drug made my sons condition worse where he was unmanageable in school and at home,I would really do my research before using this drug and any other one.
